William Gerald Dean Jr. 1942-2021

William Gerald Dean Jr. (known by many as PA Dean) passed away peacefully in his home on November 17th.

Gerald was born July 30, 1942, in Hobbs New Mexico to William Gerald Dean Sr. and Mary Irene Wallace Dean.

He is preceded in death by his son William Grant Dean. Gerald is survived by his wife Kathy Dean, son & daughter-in-law Rodney & Charis Dean, daughter & son-in-law Tamra & Andy Willingham. Along with the delights of his life, his ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

In 1962 Gerald married Kathryn Stone Dean and began their lives together in Capitan, New Mexico. Gerald operated Dean Hardware with his parents. After the sale of Dean Hardware Gerald owned Conoco Oil Company. After the sale of the oil company, he owned The Saw Shop. Gerald was elected magistrate judge of Lincoln County and proudly served his community for 17 years until his retirement. During retirement, he enjoyed gold mining and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Capitan Church of Christ.

Pa Dean will be greatly missed, but he will be forever remembered as a man who lived a full life and touched many along the way. He was a Husband, a Father, a Son, A brother, a Grandpa, a Great Grandpa, and a friend to many. He was a good man. A Godly man. He was a race car driver, a gold hunter, a teacher, a man that could fix anything with some silicone and duct tape. He had a witty sense of humor and his mischievous grin that could light up a room. Pa once said "It's not what you do in this life that matters, but why you do it that counts."  PA's life reminds us to live, to laugh, to love, and to contribute to life beyond ourselves by giving something back during our time here on earth. You will forever live in our hearts and memories Pa. Thank you for always being you. We love you.

As per Gerald’s request, there will not be a funeral service. Any donations in honor of Gerald can be made to Capitan Church of Christ /Africa missions.
