Ronald Warren

February 11, 1938 — February 7, 2021

Alto, NM

Ron Warren went to be with his Heavenly Father on February 7, 2021. He was born on February 11, 1938. Ron fought a gallant fight against Alzheimer’s for over 7 years.  The last 2 years, Ron lived at Goodlife Memory Care Center in Ruidoso, N.M.  Ron loved it there as it became his new home.  Goodlife loved him too and gave him the most wonderful care.

Preceding Ron in death were many family members including his mother and father, his grandparents, and many beloved aunts and uncles. There is a great reunion and party going on in Heaven right now as they all greet him Home finally.

Ron left on earth many family members and friends who love and miss him terribly.  His wife of 47 years, Judy Warren, was the love of his life as he is and always will be hers.  Ron also left 4 sons, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Ron was a member, Deacon and Elder of First Presbyterian Church of Midland.  He was also very active in Walk to Emmaus for many years.

Ron especially took great pride in his work always. In fact, for all the years that Ron dealt with Alzheimer’s, he was always working in his mind and would talk constantly about his imaginary projects.  Ron’s greatest joy was working at NASA in the 60’s on the Gemini, Mercury and Apollo programs.  He was an integral part of the Apollo 11 moon mission, working telemetry in Mission Control and designing systems for the mission.  When Neil Armstrong walked on the moon, he planted on it a gold cylinder engraved with the name United States of America.  In the cylinder were all of the names of the people back at Mission Control on Earth that had worked so hard to make that mission possible.  So, Ron Warren’s name is literally planted on the moon today and for always.  He went on after that mission to work on automated systems design for the Skylab, our first space station.  After that, he did systems analysis for our very first nuclear reactors and even gave testimony before the Nuclear Power Commission of its safety.

Ron went on to work at Mobil Oil as an Automation Field Systems Supervisor and retired from Mobil after 19 years.

Ron left a powerful legacy.  He was an example to all who knew and loved him of what it is to be selfless, honest, have great integrity and how to love and put God first and then all others before himself.  He has left a huge hole in all left behind who love and miss him beyond words.  It was a pure honor to know and love such a man as this.  We are all celebrating his finally going home, healthy and whole again and being with his loved ones there, but mostly we are celebrating his being with his beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Praise Be to God!

A service for Ron will be held on March 5 at 1:30 at First Presbyterian Church in Midland, TX.
