Marie Lopez

Marie Gloria López was born on July 21, 1952, in Springer, NM to Carlos & Francés “Pancha” López. She was taken home to Heaven on February 26, 2022, in Hondo, NM. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers’ Michael, Robert, & Joseph López, grandparents’ Lorenzo & Juanita López, & Aurelia Baca, & several other loved ones.

Marie was survived by her brothers’ Carlos López (Juanita) of Las Vegas, NM, Alfred López (Sal) of Cibola, Tx. Donald López (Sandy) of Glorieta, NM, her sister Loretta McTeigue (Jerome) of Hondo, NM, her sister-in-law Kim López of Missouri, several nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, her Aunts’ Betty Sandoval (Joe), Vicky Scarlett, & Dolores Gallegos (Gerald), & many cousins.

Marie grew up & attended school in Wagon Mound, NM until 1968 when she along with the family moved to Estancia, NM. where graduated in 1971.

She attended Northern NM Community College where she received her Secretarial Certification.

Marie’s employment history consisted of the FBI Dept. in Washington, DC, State of NM in Santa Fe, NM, the Medical Examiner Dept.-UNM in Alb., NM, the Health Dept. in Estancia, NM, NORA Electric in Chama, NM, Quail Run in Santa Fe, NM, & Diamond “A” in Hondo, NM.

Marie was an awesome typist, good with computers, printers, & numbers. Her willingness to learn lead her to an interesting and memorable life.

Marie knew no strangers, easily made friends, & was always ready and willing to help others, no matter the task.

Marie was an awesome cook. Her favorite meal to cook was Thanksgiving dinner.

Marie and her sister Loretta were their parents’ Caregivers until their passings. She missed them dearly.

Marie’s personality & free spirit led her to create & have life long and endearing friends.

Marie didn’t hesitate to have a beer or a shot with her brothers when they were home on Military leave. She was proud of the U.S. Military history part that is so prevalent in the López family history.

Marie’s hobbies consisted of cooking, baking, listening, and dancing to music, reading books, hanging out with family & friends, playing her games on her phone/laptop, watching Law & Order SVU, Golden Girls, & Christmas movies, & helping her brother Donald & sister-in-law Sandy sell corn at the festivities in Santa Fe, NM.

Marie will be greatly missed by those who loved her, especially her sister Loretta, nephew Carl “Stacy” López, nieces Verónica Madrid (Chris), Deanna López, & Alix Villafuerte (Richard & Xila), and all her close friends.

Marie’s wish was to be cremated. No funeral arrangements have been made as of yet.
