On Tuesday, December 14th 2021, Judith Ann (Riggs) Beavers passed away, due to complications with pneumonia, at the age of 78. Judy was born October 27th, 1943 in Albuquerque, NM to William Albert and Laura Mae (Stubblefield) Riggs.
Judy graduated from Belen High school in 1961 and began working as a messenger for the Santa Fe Railroad. In 1962 this job took her to Clovis, NM. In 1966, she was honored by the Santa Fe Railroad in Clovis, NM for saving the life of a Clovis Man, whose car had become stuck on the tracks. She ran down the middle of the track to try and gain the attention of the engineer, and jumped from the tracks at the last moment.
Judy had a passion for sewing and quilting. This led to her opening a small business and being known as “The Quilt Lady”. She spent hours teaching others this talent, and would help anyone that asked. She entered several local fairs and won awards for her quilting skill. She made and donated lap quilts to the elderly; and most recently, masks and surgical caps for the employees of LCMC. Known for her quick wit, her infectious smile, and her kind and compassionate spirit.
She is preceded in death by; her parents William and Laura, her son Timothy, and her husband Robert Beavers. Survived by her three sons and their families;
Justin Smith, his wife Kristie and their children Baylee Varnell, D’kota and Keeli Smith.
Dusty Beavers, his wife Deanie and their children Mackenzie, Briggs and Brock.
Bradley Beavers, his fiancé Sarah Dean, her son Christian and their son Brennan
Grandson Brandon Jenkins (Beavers)
Her sister Sharron Pepper and numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 15th, 2022 at the J Bar J Country Church on 25974 US-70, Ruidoso, NM, at 11:00 A.M., in leu of flowers she asked that donations be made to the J Bar J Country Church kitchen pantry.
