Harry Ray Jr.

Harry E. Ray, Jr., loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2022. He was born in Denton, Texas on March 2, 1942.

Harry graduated from North Texas State University with a degree in Education in 1965.  He moved to Odessa, TX, taught and coached there for eight years.  Harry then   moved to Ruidoso, N.M., and worked in the real estate business, eventually owning his own real estate company.

In 1978, Harry Ray married his wife of 43 years and they had two sons.  He went back into Education in1982, coaching and teaching in Dalhart, TX and Rockport, TX, for another 32 years.  In 2014, after teaching for 40 years, Harry and his wife retired and moved back to Ruidoso, N.M.

To know Harry was to know a man with quiet dignity and humility.  He will be sadly missed.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Lucille Ray, and his youngest brother, Jimmy Ray.

Harry is survived by his wife Joanne of 43 years, sons David and wife Kim Ray, Craig and wife Courtney Ray. His brother Bobby and wife Phyllis Ray, and sister in law Donna Ray, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  He is also survived by Joanne's eight brothers and sisters.

Memorial services will be held at St. Eleanor's Catholic Church on April 19, 2022 at 11:30 A.M.

Memorials in honor of Harry can be sent to American Cancer Society, American Lung Association or Shriner's Hospital.
