Donna Mae (Cloud) Cox, age 85, of Nogal, NM, passed away August 25, 2021 at Lincoln County Medical Center.

Donna Cox was born of her parents Rosco Delmere Cloud and Lydia Dill Cloud on Feb 21, 1936, in St. Joseph, Michigan.

The family moved to Capitan after her father had gotten tuberculosis so that he could receive treatment at Fort Stanton. She graduated high school in Capitan as the Salutatorian in 1954. She married her husband, Dick Cox, in 1956 and had a wonderful 65 years together.   They had 3 rambunctious boys - John, Bill and David.  Donna graduated with her BA from Northern Arizona University and her Masters at New Mexico State. She taught Business to high school students and skiing to little ones in Flagstaff and Williams, Arizona and Cloudcroft, New Mexico.   She later became a CPA with a firm in Albuquerque,New Mexico and Atlanta, Georgia. The family moved many times following Dick’s work with the US Forest Service. She was a member of the New Mexico Cowbelles and involved in the Nogal Church. She loved painting, sewing, photography, ceramics, was a great skier, loved the outdoors and absolutely loved her little house on the hill.  She loved having company and cooking for family.  One of her favorite pastimes was supper at the Old Road Restaurant in Mescalero.

Donna Cox is survived by her husband, Dick Cox and her son David Cox, her sister, Sally Fluhart and brother, Virgil Hall, five grandchildren- Jo Lee Cox, John Kendall Cox, Caitlin Rudgear, Calley Carter and Avery Cox. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Jean Cloud and two sons, William Lee “Bill”  and John Edward Cox.

Her funeral service will be Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in the Angus Church of the Nazarene Worship Center.
