Dana Terlecky

Dana John Terlecky went to his eternal life on July 10, 2021.  He was born to John and Ruth Terlecky on April 13, 1952 in Yonkers NY.  As a young man, he joined the United States Air Force where he worked as an aircraft mechanic.  He proudly served his country for 13years, his last post of duty was in Alamogordo.

Dana joined the Ruidoso Downs Police Department in 1987 and remained with the department for 20 years.  He went up in rank and was a Sargent at retirement.  Dana was an avid firearm enthusiast and was the firearms instructor for the police for years.  He also enjoyed teaching the youth of Lincoln County hunter's safety classes and teaching others how to shoot safely. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and hosted the NRA banquets for several years.  Dana was very knowledgeable about history and had a large collection of firearms and memorabilia from WW2 and Vietnam. He displayed his collection at gun shows all around the state.  Dana cared deeply for his dove companion, Zoomie, for years.

Most importantly of all, Dana was a good man. He is loved and will be missed by his children, grandchildren, and his many, many friends. He attended the Church of the Holy Mount.
