Cherri Goodman

August 23, 1945 — October 7, 2022

Cherri Goodman passed away on Friday night, October 7, 2022 at the age of 77 after a long and arduous struggle with dementia. Cherri was born on August 23, 1945 in Littlefield, TX to F.C. (Bud) and Rose Thurman. She attended most of her school years in Eunice, New Mexico. After graduation from Eunice H.S. in 1963 she attended Lubbock Christian College.

In 1964 she married her high school sweetheart, Neil Goodman, who was a junior at New Mexico State University at the time. After college, the couple lived in Louisville, Kentucky for 4 years before moving to Dallas, TX. It was in Dallas where Cherri found her mission in life as a most extraordinary mother and homemaker. Her organization skills and efficiency in raising two children and managing a home without ever missing a beat were legend. She used those same abilities to do one of her favorite things; organize, plan, and host parties.

After the two children became adults and left the home, Neil and Cherri moved to the bay area of California for 7 years, followed by 9 years in Boulder, Colorado. Cherri and three friends opened an antiques store, Simpsons Corner, in Louisville, Colorado during this time.

Upon retirement in 2003, the couple moved to Ruidoso. Prior to the onset of dementia, Cherri had an active life. She was a member of ladies golf leagues at Cree Meadows and Alto. She was a regular at the morning Yoga classes at Alto. She volunteered at Christian Services at Gateway Church of Christ. She was the founder of a women's Bunco group at Alto. She loved to dance at any kind of social gathering at Cree Meadows or Alto.

Cherri is survived by her husband of 58 years, Neil Goodman of Ruidoso, NM. Two children, her son Keith Goodman of Frisco, TX and her daughter Dana and husband Andy Elliott of Garland TX. Three grandchildren, Chris Goodman of Euless, TX, Nick Goodman of Tampa, Florida, and Daisy Elliott of Garland, TX. A brother, Randy Thurman and a sister, Marsha Snead both of Lovington NM
