Whitman Shanta

Whitman Shanta, 59, of Mescalero was born October 5, 1954 at Three Rivers, NM and passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014, in Ruidoso. He had lived in the area all of his life. He was a retired mechanic.

He is survived by his companion, Brenda Waters children, Erik Shanta and Anna Shanta sisters, Sandra Platero and Glorianna Shanta and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene Shanta and a sister, Maureen Shanta.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 12, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM with the Rosary at 6:00 PM at St. Josephs Mission. The funeral mass will be Monday, January 13, at 10:00 AM also at St. Josephs Mission with burial to follow at the Mescalero Cemetery.
