Waylon Wilcox

Waylon Jeffery WIlcox was called home on Tuesday Septeber 4, 2018. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend that was always willing to do for others what he could not do for himself. He never knew a stranger and was always willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.

Waylon worked as a Dispatcher for the Ruidoso Police Department for the past 8 years. Before that he resided in Las Vegas, Nevada where he worked surveillance for the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He previously served as a board member for the Ruidoso Boys and Girls Club. He also volunteered as a coach for the Ruidoso Little League Flag Football.

His passion in life was helping the youth in all aspects of life, whether it be teaching them music, sports, or just to lend a listening ear.

Waylon was born on April 3, 1978 in Hamlin, Texas to Ben and Betty Wilcox. He is survived by his parents, Ben and Betty Wilcox of Capitan, New Mexico, a sister, Christi Patton and her husband Jerry Patton of Odessa, Texas, and a sister, Valari Bartlett of Capitan,New Mexico, He is also survived by the loves of his life, his nephews and nieces, Caleb Wilcox, Jacob Wilcox, Ashton Sibley, Mikey Hamm, Jaeden Wilcox, Daisha Patton, and Isaiah Patton, and his great nieces Chambri Wilcox and Anais Wilcox and his great nephew Zico Wilcox.

His funeral service will be Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 4:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church of Ruidoso with burial to follow at Gavilan Memorial Garden Cemetery.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to your local Boys and Girls Club.
