Walther Mainz

Graveside service for Walther Mainz, 69, of Ruidoso will be Saturday, Sept. 29, at Noon in the Ruidoso-Hondo Valley Cemetery near Ruidoso Downs. He passed awaey peacefully Saturday, Sept. 1, aftger a six month battle with cancer. Walther, originally from Germany, met and married Sharon Eves in Lubbock, where they lived until retirement. He enjoyed golfing with his friends, hiking and was an avid stamp collector. He was a good and kind man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon on July 8, 2005. He is survived by daughter Kim Brooks and her husband Jeremy and their children, Matthew and Alex; daughter, Karin McCannon and her husband Thomas and their children, Christina and Sean. He has four brothers, arvid, Udo, Rolf, and Jurgen and thier families currently residing in Germany. He is also survived by dear friends, Helmut and Camillia Wierzba. The family has requested memorials to Habitat for Humanity.
