Virginia Lamay

December 25, 1927 — November 6, 2017

Virginia Joy LaMay passed away November 6, 2017 at the Mescalero Care Center where she had lived for the last two years.

She was born in Fort Worth, Texas, December 25,1927 and would have celebrated her 90th birthday this year.

Her parents were Claude C. Brooks and Irma Jewel Garrett Brooks. She is survived by her brother Harold Don Brooks and his wife Yvonne and their two sons Kenny & Kelly Brooks. Her younger brother Kent Brooks predeceased her.

She is survived by her oldest daughter, Claudia and her husband David Woods, sons, Larry Bizzell and wife Carolyn, Barry Bizzell and wife Jackie, and son-in-law, Joe Blaney. Her youngest daughter, Ellen Bizzell-Blaney, "Buzz" predeceased her.

Her grand kids are Jason Woods and wife Shannon, Leslea Woods Harris, and husband Ben, and Tai Amber Weber and her husband Mark. Great grand kids are Daymen Woods, Cody Harris, Case and Graci Weber.

Called Maw by all her kids and her friends called her "Ginny." She loved to cook gourmet meals and desserts. Her buttermilk pies were loved by everyone. She always had a crock pot going and made a mean hot, hot chili! She planned many potlucks at the WPS for the holidays and decorated for them as well. Made many of the holidays special for all.

She collected owls and had an extensive cookbook collection as well. She grew up in the depression and learned to "make do" and be creative.

Ginny was Buzz's right hand "man" when it came to keeping Ruidoso Beautiful and helped hide hundreds of hand decorated Easter eggs for the Parks and Recreation Department.

Ginny loved to travel and always went to her high school reunion in Moran, Texas. She gardened and did crafts and raised her family. Family get-togethers for birthdays and holidays were always enjoyed by all.

She didn't want a big "to do", so no services are planned.

Memorial gifts can be made to the Mescalero Care Center or Keep Ruidoso Beautiful. We love you Maw.
