Steven Gilbert Guilez, born in Tularosa, NM on April 13th 1967 left Earth on November 7th 2024 to do his biggest gig yet- in Heaven. Steve is going to be on lead guitar. Steve's dad Chon Guilez as back up guitar and lead vocals for his newest band. On drums is John Bonham (Formerly of Led Zeppelin) and on bass is Michael Anthony (Formerly of Van Halen); Steven's favorite band. Steve loved his Harley Davidson, Zia. He loved riding his Harely all over New Mexico. He was an excellent crafter of guitars. Steve would often rebuild and make guitars and give them to friends and loved ones, who also shared his love for music and playing guitars. Steve had a loving heart and was well liked by mostly everyone he came in contact with. He deeply missed his dear friend Tommy Martin, who was also a musician, who tragically passed away.
Steven loved his Tularosa heritage. He was proud of being on the state championship football team in Tularosa high school. Steven was also a huge Green Bay Packers fan. Steve loved spending time in Three Rivers, NM. Three Rivers was a special place where he spent time with his family growing up. Steve was a lover of camping and hiking and life in general. He was a free-spirited musician that loved getting on the road and traveling with his bandmates. He was most proud of his band The Mixx in which he founded with his good friends.
Steven is survived by his mother, Carol Guilez, daughter Desarae, and her three children Cesar who takes after grandpa, Bethanie, and Sofia. He is also survived by his sisters Rose, Veronica, and Gina as well as his younger brother Jr, along with numerous nieces, nephews, roadies, and groupies alike.
Steven is proceeded in death by his father Chon Guilez and his son Justin Guilez.
Funeral services for Steven will be held December 18th, 2024 @ 10:00 AM with a rosary followed by a mass @ Saint Francis De Paula in Tularosa, New Mexico. Stevens comida will be held after his funeral at Parish Hall where we will remember Steven and share stories and memories of Steven.
Dad you will be deeply missed.
