Rudy Gonzales

Rudy Gonzales, 76, of Ruidoso passed away Saturday, January 28, 2017, in Rio Rancho, NM. He was born April 2, 1940 at Raton, NM to Violet and Henry Gonzales. He moved to Lincoln County in 1952 at the age of 12 after following the Horse Racing Circuit. He won the All American Futurity as a trainer in 1967. Besides race horse training, he was also a jockey and a carpenter working on many houses in Lincoln County. He loved to go fishing and hunting. He married Jane Sanchez on November 29, 1959 at Ruidoso.

He is survived by his wife, Jane; his children, Donna Pafford, Wilbur "Jabo" Gonzales, Violet Norman, Charlie Gonzales, Jennifer Kennedy, Jerry Joe Gonzales, Nick Gonzales and Gloria Jane Gonzales; 24 grandchidren, 21 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; his siblings, Nick, Pat, John, Irene and Leanor. He was preceded in death by a son, Rudy "Buddy" Gonzales Jr.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 2, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM with the funeral mass on Friday, February 3, at 10:00 AM at St. Eleanor Catholic Church.
