Robert Gustafson

March 7, 1941 — April 17, 2016

Robert O'Jay Gustafson passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2016. "Bobby Gus" or "Bobby", as he was most often called, was born in Dallas, Texas on March 7, 1941. He is preceded in death by his parents Sherman O'Jay Gustafson and Annie Marie Newman Gustafson, sister, Barbara Jean Dixon and brother, Donny Wayne Gustafson.

Bobby was a loving husband, devoted father, and loyal friend. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joyce Eloise Peden; three children, daughter Natalie June Gustafson, son Brian Davis Wheeler, daughter Stephanie Denise Wheeler Teetes (and husband George Ray Teetes); and five wonderful grandchildren he spoiled every chance he could, Natasha Jenee McCown Pocock, Lauren Lee Teetes, George Hayden Teetes, Adrian Davis Gustafson and Alice Kristen Gustafson; as well as one younger sister Carolyn Ann Lackey. He leaves behind beloved aunts, in-laws, nieces, nephews and countless friends across the country.

He was baptized on December 30th, 1950 and confirmed June 3rd, 1956 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Cranfills Gap, Texas. In his younger years, he was known as an excellent athlete in his hometown of Cranfills Gap and later at Paschal High School in Ft. Worth. He was known by the community as a hard worker on the family ranch as a teenager. He served in the U.S. Navy as a fighter jet mechanic from February 1959 to March 1962 and was honorably discharged. After spending most of his working years in Bosque County, he and Joyce retired and traveled the country in their RV and enjoyed beautiful sunsets on their deck in Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico. Bobby endeared most all who knew him with his quick wit and sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by those who loved him.
