Robert G. “Bob” Clarke, 94, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 24, 2025, in Rosenberg, Texas, with his family close by.
Bob was born on April 4, 1931, in Buffalo, New York, to Richard and Mildred Clarke. He grew up in New Mexico, graduated from high school in Socorro, and later attended Western New Mexico University in Silver City, where he met his future wife, Eva Wray. The two married and shared 70 wonderful years together, celebrating their anniversary on August 18, 2025.
Bob worked primarily as an insurance claims adjuster, with assignments in Silver City, Las Cruces, Alamogordo, Carlsbad, and Artesia, New Mexico, as well as Lubbock, Texas. Eventually, he and Eva settled in Ruidoso, New Mexico, where they lived for 42 years and enjoyed retirement. Bob was a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph Mission Church in Mescalero.
He is survived by his beloved wife Eva, his three children—Robert Clarke Jr., Cecile Vadon, and Michael Clarke—three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob will be remembered as a kind and loving husband, father, and friend, known for his sharp wit, humor, and generosity. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, running, having a pint with his many good friends and even snow skiing well into his 80s.
A small burial service will be held in Silver City, New Mexico, at a later date.
