Raynene Kay (Kate) Greer passed away suddenly at her home in Capitan, NM on Wednesday September 16, 2015. She was born on October 28, 1950 in Sacramento California to Ray and Edna Greer.
Raynene graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1968, from George Williams University in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science and also attended New Mexico State University.
She was a Social Worker for over 20 years for different organizations and lived in several cites over her life which included Las Cruces, Chicago, Carrizozo, Carlsbad, Fort Stanton, Capitan and she had a true love for southern New Mexico. She loved to cook and was owner of The Main Street Deli in Ruidoso for several years. She was an avid potter and loved creating and shaping things with her hands. She made several wonderful pieces of pottery over the many years that she spent in the clay studio.
Raynene lived in her home in Capitan for over 22 years and loved her little town in every way! She was very involved in her community and a long time member and very active in the Capitan Church of Christ. She enjoyed attending the Tuesday morning women's bible class there and loved the ladies as sisters. She spent some of her free time volunteering at the Capitan Public Library and thought of those folks as family!
Her later years were spent fighting several auto immune diseases and although she couldn't do things like she used to, she loved spending her time creating her other passion: Collage Art! She created her small art studio called "Work in Progress" at her home in Capitan and concentrated on the repurposing of her treasures that she collected from all sorts of cool places. She was very excited over the past year to get her clay studio built in her house to start throwing again.
Raynene is survived by her son Zeke, daughter in law Lyndsey and 4 yr old granddaughter Masen. She also left behind several close friends that truly will miss her.
