Pete Salas Jr., born on May 6, 1968, peacefully passed away on November 16, 2025. He was a man whose warmth and generosity made a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Pete never knew a stranger; he had a unique gift for making friends with everyone he met, and his vibrant presence lit up any gathering.
Known for being the life of the party, Pete was a familiar face at every dance and roping event in town. His boundless energy and infectious laughter brought joy to those around him. Whether it was the thrill of riding horses or the serenity of camping under the stars, Pete pursued his hobbies with passion and enthusiasm. He relished good food and was a true aficionado of even better music, creating cherished memories with friends and family alike.
Pete is survived by his wife, Lucy DeeAnn Salas; brothers, Jimmy Montoya, and Albert Chavez (Lucy); sisters, Nancy Sanchez, Sofia Urban (Joe), and Rosie Akin (Mike); and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his triplets, Albert Miguel Salas, Reina Raquel Salas, and Pete Justin Salas; parents Pedro and Rachel Salas; brother, Gilbert Chavez; maternal grandparents, Juan and Leonor Chavez; paternal grandparents, Elfigo and Maximilliana Salas; and brother in law Bobby Sanchez.
The family would like to thank pallbearers; Jimmy Hernandez, Ralph Miranda, Sergio Lopez, Reyes Salas, Gilbert Urban, Brian Aragon, and Justin Sanchez; honorary pallbearer, Ray Aragon for being in his life and checking in on him. We would also like to thank all of his hospice team for their compassion and patience in our time of need, and our family and friends for calling, visiting, bringing food, and sending continuous prayers.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 29th at St. Jude Catholic Church in San Patricio, New Mexico. Viewing will begin at 9:00 AM, Rosary will begin at 9:30 AM with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Interment will follow at Hondo Cemetery.
As we remember Pete, we celebrate a life that was rich in love, laughter, and friendship. His legacy will continue to resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly missed but fondly remembered for the joy he brought into the lives of many.
