Visitation for Moises Sambrano, 77, of Alamogordo and formerly of Lincoln County will be Monday, April 21, from 5:30 PM until 6:30 PM at LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso where the prayer service will be at 6:30 PM. The funeral mass will be on Tuesday, April 22, at 10:00 AM in St. Jude's Catholic Church at San Patricio with military burial rites to follow at the Hondo Cemetery. Mr. Sambrano passed away Saturday, April 19, in Alamogordo. He was born September 17, 1930 at San Patricio and had lived most of his life in Lincoln County. He served with the Carrizozo Volunteer Fire Dept. for 25 years, he was a charter member of the Lincoln County Sheriff Posse, served as the Undersheriff for Lincoln County in the early 1970's and was one of the best sheep shearers around. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Libby Salcido on July 9, 1955 at Lincoln. He is survived by his wife, Libby of Alamogordo; five sons, Gilbert Sambrano of Roswell, Clifford Sambrano of Tularosa, Lorenzo Sambrano of Carrizozo, Moises Sambrano Jr. of Las Cruces, and Alex Sambrano of Santa Fe; a daughter, Bernice Austad of Lawton, Oklahoma; a brother, Adam Sambrano of California; 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
