Born on July 11, 1954, Miguel brought boundless joy and warmth into the world until his peaceful passing on January 15, 2024.
Throughout his remarkable life, Miguel cherished the values of compassion and selflessness. With an unwavering belief in the power of positivity, he would often say, "It always comes back in one way or another," inspiring countless others to embrace acts of kindness. As soon as you met Miguel, his genuine warmth and infectious personality left an impression that stayed with you forever.
A true social butterfly and avid Facebook user, Miguel delighted in documenting his adventures and fond memories with the new people he met along the way. He possessed a discerning palate and took pleasure in visiting various restaurants, where he would critique and appreciate different cuisines. Additionally, Miguel shared a deep love for country music and dancing, particularly enjoying the two-step and waltz alongside his beloved wife Rita.
One of Miguel's proudest accomplishments was golfing alongside business associates during his career in the garment industry. This endeavor not only showcased his skill on the greens but also provided him with invaluable opportunities to forge strong bonds with others. Furthermore, Miguel had a passion for exploration and adventure; he embarked on remarkable journeys throughout Central America, creating unforgettable memories that enriched his life.
Beyond his hobbies and accomplishments, Miguel's greatest joy was found in helping others. His innate kindness touched countless lives as he selflessly extended a helping hand to those in need without hesitation or expectation of anything in return. Whether it was lending a listening ear or offering guidance and support, Miguel made a profound impact on anyone fortunate enough to cross paths with him.
Miguel Valdez, Jr.'s legacy will endure through the many lives he touched with his remarkable kindness and heartfelt compassion. Miguel is survived by his loving wife, Rita; sons, Erik Valdez and his wife Candice, and Gabriel Valdez and his wife Lidia; grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Enzo Valdez, Eva Valdez, and Alisa Valdez; sisters, Jane Valdez DeLeon and her husband John, Theresa Valdez Marez and her husband Jessie, Delphinia Valdez Moralez and her husband Eloy, Judy Valdez Balderas and her husband Billy, Faye Valdez Cook and her husband Tom, and Katherine Valdez Flores and her husband Abel; aunt, Rose Ortiz; cousin, Mary Jane Lueras and husband Joe; mother of his children, Karen Valdez; stepsons, Cody Griffin, and Guy Griffin and his wife Alice and their son Ryder; and father and mother in law, Charles and Ann Griffin. He also has numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and greats that will miss him tremendously. He is preceded in death by his parents, Miguel A. Valdez and Melesia Lucero Valdez.
A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2024, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso, New Mexico.
