Michael Pumphrey

Michael John Pumphrey of Capitan, NM, passed away at his home on March 5, 2024. He was born on March 27, 1954, in San Antonio, TX. Michael and Alfa had an everlasting love and each day was an adventure. He loved his family and kept everyone laughing.

Mike was a big ole guy with a BIG heart! His quiet strength and wisdom were always a source of comfort and guidance to those around him. Known affectionately as "The Ultimate" by his grandchildren, Michael leaves behind a legacy of love.

Michael worked as a Corrections Officer in Nevada and New Mexico, where he exhibited professionalism and dedication in all that he did. Beyond his career, he was a talented cook, delighting many with his culinary skills.

He is survived by his wife Alfa, daughters Michelle Smith, Crystal Delano, and Charis Dean; brother David Pumphrey; sister Teresa Sellers; grandchildren Austin Delano , Alexsis Adams, Chasata Rodriquez, AJ and Mike Plascencio, Robert and Coby Dean, Dana Montes, Tressa Moore, and Jesslyn Maxwell; and great-grandchildren Ava and Kayden Rodriguez, Wylder Dean, Chance and Devyn Adams, Carter, Crew, and Hezakiah Montes. Michaels son Stephen (Chev) Pumphrey , brother Stephen Pumphrey and daughter Dreama Lyon preceded him in death. Among many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. Michael's memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
