Obituary

Melanie Marisa Valentine Cobb

February 14, 1977 - September 26, 2026

Melanie Marisa Valentine Cobb, 49, of a life richly lived and deeply loved, passed away on September 26, 2026, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on Valentine's Day in 1977, Melanie entered the world as a gift of love and spent her life pouring that love outward to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She met her husband, Shaun, through a mutual friend, and what began as a chance introduction blossomed into a more than 30-year love story. Melanie and Shaun cherished each other with a rare and steadfast devotion. To Shaun, Melanie was his whole world; he cherished the very ground she walked on. Together they built a life filled with laughter, family, and quiet, everyday magic.

Melanie's happiest place was the kitchen. An outstanding cook, she found pure joy in preparing meals for the people she loved. She was most content with her children and grandchildren underfoot and "in the way," the house filled with the aromas of her cooking and the sound of their voices. That same warmth radiated from the back patio Shaun built especially for her-a true Garden of Eden. There, among the flowers Shaun planted and tended for her, Melanie loved to sit and read her Bible. A devoted follower of Christ, she found peace and strength in those quiet moments of faith while watching her grandchildren play and visiting with family and friends.

For a quarter of a century, Melanie served as a director at Primrose Schools. Her influence stretched across generations: some of the children she taught grew up and returned with children of their own, whom Melanie also guided and nurtured. Her smile could light up any room, and her kindness and loving spirit left a lasting imprint on every life she touched-students, colleagues, friends, and family alike.

Melanie was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, Amma, sister, and friend. She was loved by many, and she loved fiercely in return.

She is survived by her devoted husband Shaun, her sons, David (Kali) and Cole (Bonnie), her daughters Kayla and Amelia, her grandchildren Johnny and Arabela, her father, Frank (Christy), her mother Emileen, her brothers Raymond and Luis, her sisters Jamie and Angelie, her stepmother Michelle, In-laws Mike and Melinda, Sisters In-law Ashley and family, Kelsey and family.

Melanie is proceeded in death by Great Grand Parents Frank and Grace Gomez.
