Maxine Wright

Elsie Maxine Wright, 85, of Capitan, NM returned to her heavenly home on March 7, 2016.
Maxine was born October 29, 1930 in Lamesa, TX to Vester and Elsie Kidd. She was the third child born of eight children. She married her loving husband, Howard Wright, on July 23, 1947 in Lamesa, TX. Howard preceded her in death in November of 2000. Maxine and Howard moved to Capitan, NM from West Texas in 1960. They became active members of the community, serving as members of the Chamber of Commerce and were at one time, owners of the Smokey Bear Restaurant and Motel.

Maxine retired from the U.S. Postal Service. She served as Capitan Postmaster from 1974 until 1992. Maxine was blessed with a large and loving family. She enjoyed sewing, camping and fishing, gardening, and spending time with her family.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dale and Marvell Kidd.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay Strickland and her husband Terry of Capitan, NM; son, Jim Wright and his wife Linda of Alturas, CA; grandchildren; Rhonda Cox and her husband Tommy of Amarillo, TX, Melinda Wilson and her husband Shawn of Capitan, NM, Kimberly Ramsey and her husband Daren of Fossil, OR, Justin Wright and his wife Laduska of Klamoth Falls, OR, great grandchildren; Veronica Reeves-Lopez and her husband Joseph, Stephanie Avent and her husband Tyler, Kirsten Wilson, Taylor Cox, Blade Wilson, Jerrod Wright, Jason Ramsey, Jacob Wright and Jordan Wright and one great great grandson, Reeves Lopez; five siblings, Jonelle Lucas, Frank Kidd, Truman Kidd, Illa Sue Courtney, and LaRue Courtney.

The visitation will be Wednesday, March 9, from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 PM at LaGrone Funeral Home in Ruidoso. Graveside services will be Thursday, March 10, at 1 P.M. at Capitan Cemetery.
