Maurice Sowell Jr., 72 of Capitan passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015 in Capitan. He was born February 5, 1943 at Clovis, New Mexico. He moved to Lincoln County in 1985 from Smyer, Texas. He was a Registered Nurse and had served in the Marine Corp.

He is survived by his children, Preston Sowell, Heather Nelson, Danielle Bowman, James Sowell, Stephen Kistinger, Shondo Castillo, Teddy Sowell, Loni George, Emma Sowell and Whitney George; and numerous grandchildren.

Services will be held in the spring.
