Graveside service for Maurice F. Gracy, 97, formerly of Carrizozo will be Thursday, May 1, at 2:00 PM in Ft. Stanton Cemetery with the Rev. Johnie Johnson officiating. Mr. Gracy passed away Monday, April 28, in Las Cruces. He was born May 29, 1910 at Sparta, Tennessee to Richard and Ella Lou Gracy. He made a career with the Merchant Marines, serving during World War II and retired in 1972 as a Chief Engineer. He moved to Carrizozo in 1977 from Burbank, California. He was a member of the American Legion and frequent visitor of the Carrizozo Senior Citizen Center. He attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Carrizozo. He is survived by a nephew, Daniel Gracy and a niece, Stacey Bruce.
