Maria "Merche" Peso

Maria "Merche" Peso, a cherished matriarch and proud Castilian, will be tenderly remembered as a beacon of love and strength. Born on September 24, 1938, in Barcelona, Spain, Maria embodied grace and warmth throughout her life. Her journey on Earth peacefully concluded on June 21, 2024, in Mescalero, NM.

Maria was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Peso.

Maria, a loving mother to Ruben (Bernice), Gervase Jr, Merche, and Angel Peso, held a deep and abiding affection for her family. As a devoted homemaker, she poured her heart into creating a nurturing and joyful home for her loved ones. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren Marissa, Fabian, Gervase III, Cash (Callie), Brittney, Coco, Alyssa, and great-grandchildren Clyde, Jaime, Jasiah, Emelia, Erica and Kalyxtra, who she adored beyond words.

With a passion for music, dancing, and the arts, Maria's melodious voice and proficiency in the flamenco highlighted her vibrant spirit. Her love for indulging in cooking, getting dressed up, traveling, and the serenity of the beach underscored her zest for life. Proficient in seven languages, Maria's intellect and cultural curiosity were as vast as her heart.

In honoring Maria's life, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Apache Mission on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 10:00 am.

Maria "Merche" Peso's legacy of love, compassion, and cultural richness will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, her memory a cherished melody that continues to dance in our souls.
