Lucia Savedra

Visitation for Lucia G. Savedra, 85, of Capitan will be Friday, April 20, beginning at 6:00 PM in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the prayer service at 7:00 PM, the funeral mass will be Saturday, April 21, at 10:00 AM also at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Capitan Cemetery. Mrs. Savedra passed away Wednesday, April 18, at her home with her family at her side. She was born March 27, 1922 at Lincoln and had lived in Lincoln County all of he life. She retired from Ft. Stanton Hospital in 1984, she loved to bowl and participated in the Senior Olympics. She married Jake T. Griego in 1940 and he preceded her in death in 1979, she married Fred Savedra in 1991 and he preceded her in death in 2001. She was a loving, giving, and compassionate mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by two children, Mary Skogland and her husband Nick of Ft. Stanton and Jake Griego of Capitan; sister, Cecilia Lucero of Roswell; brother, Mike Gonzales of Santa Fe; daughter in law, Gloria Griego of Alamogordo; grandchildren, Vivian Griego of Capitan, Brenda Griego-Taylor of Capitan and Gina Griego-Cano of Alexandria, Virginia; great grandchildren, Brian Taylor, Bryanna Parker, Jacob Cano and Elaine Cano and longtime pet Chiquita. The glory of angels singing as the heavenly trumpets sound, beholding the majestic splendor revealing I am homeward bound. There is no pain or sorrow nigh, all trials will be passed away, when sweet Jesus warmly greets me, I know I am coming home to stay. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.lagroneruidoso.com.
