Lon Rayburn Williams Sr., 92, of Ruidoso passed away Sunday, March 2, at his home with his wife of almost 67 years and granddaughter Kim at his side. Funeral services will be held in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Williams was born February 9, 1916 in Dallas, Texas, served in World War II and was a retired auditor with the Department of Agriculture. When he retired in 1978 he moved to live in the cabin he had bought in 1958. He married Virginia vaughan on April 25, 1941 in Dallas. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; son, Lon Rayburn Williams Jr. and his wife Judy; three daughters, Patricia Williams Helpinstill, Debra Williams McGurk, and Stevie Williams Bodkin; grandchildren, Kim Nichols, Vaughan and Anna Williams, Collin and Neil McGurk, Eric and Rachel Bodkin; great grandchildren, Mandy Meredith, Teddi Tallant, Nick Nichols, Sam and Virginia Montes; great great grandchildren, Martin and Hannah Meredith. Mr. Williams was known as Doodah by all the grandkids. He was a wonderful man who was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. You will remain in our hearts forever Doodah.
