Lawanna Strickland

Lawanna Jean Strickland of Ruidoso, NM, passed away on May 1, 2016 at the age of 53. She was born January 29, 1963 in Lovington, NM to David and Wanda Strickland who both precede her in death. She graduated Valedictorian from Le Grange High School in 1981.
During her life she shared her amazing gift of artistry with everyone she knew and loved. Her ability to see and create beauty in ordinary things will be missed, but not forgotten. The hand-crafted jewelry she made with love will serve as a reminder of her beautiful spirit and kind heart. Lawanna's self-less sacrifice and willingness to help anyone in need will be forever remembered. She touched each person she met in such a way that left a footprint on our hearts and a smile in our memories, each being different but all so precious.

She is survived by so many that love her and will be missed greatly.
Two sons, Corey Borderlon of Marksville, LA and Rocky Vigil Jr of Ruidoso, NM.
Her life-long partner, Gilbert "Rocky" Vigil of Ruidoso, NM.
One sister, Angela Buckley and husband Johnny of Capitan, NM.
Two brothers, Clay Strickland and wife Staci of Jefferson, TX. Stephen Strickland and wife Evon of McAlester, OK.
Three nephews, Tripp McClain of Roswell, NM. Elijah Strickland of Jefferson, TX, Peyton Buckley of Capitan, NM.
Two nieces, Kristina Urquides of Roswell, NM. Lucinda Heikkinen and husband JR of McAlester, OK.
Great-Nieces and Nephews, Mariah, Caylee, and Lucas Urquides of Roswell, NM and Alexandra Heikkinen of McAlester, OK.
Numerous cousins, aunts, and uncle. As well as her best friend Marci Joiner.

Memorial Service will be Satruday, May 7, at the Elegante Lodge & Suite, 107 Sierra Blance Drive, Ruidoso, NM 88345 from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.

She is Gone
