Kenneth Edison Deeter Jr., born on October 25, 1957, in Roswell, New Mexico, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 2, 2025, in Ruidoso, New Mexico. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Army for twenty years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. This career was one of his proudest accomplishments, embodying the values of service and dedication that defined his life. He was known for his compassionate nature, often putting the needs of others before his own. His generosity extended to his fellow soldiers, for whom he frequently provided meals, drinks, and other necessities.
Beyond his military service, Kenneth had a multifaceted personality brimming with interests and hobbies. A self-taught mechanic, he possessed an extraordinary ability to diagnose automotive issues simply by the sound of a car. His passion for vintage music, particularly classical rock, was reflected in many of his fondest memories; he also enjoyed playing pranks and attending garage sales. Kenneth's love for the outdoors was evident in his enthusiasm for fishing, camping, hunting, and shooting guns. Moreover, he was renowned for being a phenomenal cook, often spoiling his grandkids with delicious food.
Kenneth's family was of paramount importance to him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Im Suk Deeter; his daughters, Nadine McCray and husband Antonio, and Adriana Rodriguez and husband Christian. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Semaj Long, James Long, Naija Long, and Micah McCray. Kenneth is further survived by his sisters, Robin Clark and Jodi Deeter; his nephew, Timothy Clark; and his niece, Sarah Muehlbrad. He is remembered fondly by his good friends Bobby Franco, Tony Serrano, and Joe Fleming.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Martha Ruby Louise Deeter; father, Kenneth Edison Deeter Sr.; and siblings Ricky Gordon Brown, Larry Don Deeter, and Malynda Gail Brady.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Fort Stanton State Veterans Cemetery, located at 1398 State Hwy 220, Fort Stanton, NM 88323. Full military honors will be rendered.
