Karla Sears-Perry

October 7, 1964 — June 16, 2015

Karla Beth Sears-Perry passed away at her home in Las Cruces Tuesday June 16th after a long battle with ovarian cancer.
Karla was born October 7, 1964 to John and Libby Sears in Dallas, TX. The family moved to Ruidoso when Karla was 3 years old, and she graduated from high school there in 1982. She attended NMSU for 2 years majoring in art, worked at the Ruidoso News for a year, then attended and graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver, Colorado.

Karla married Ty Perry, the love of her life on October 22, 1988. They lived successively in Redondo Beach, California, Idaho Springs, Colorado and El Paso, Texas before settling in Las Cruces. Karla loved being a mother and was very involved in the lives of their two sons, Kegan Perry and Quinn Perry and their daughter, Riley Perry.

Karla loved to paint. She produced fine art and also worked as a muralist and decorative painter. She painted murals in hospitals (usually in the pediatric areas), businesses and private homes, and was so thankful to be able to earn money doing something she loved doing anyway.

Karla was a loving and compassionate person. She expressed her love and gratitude often to those who were blessed to be a part of her life, and she will be MISSED.
Karla was preceded in death by her mother, Libby Sears. She is survived by her husband, Ty Perry, son Kegan Perry and his wife Estrella, son Quinn Perry, and daughter Riley Perry, all of Las Cruces, NM; also by her father, John Sears of Alamogordo, NM, her sister, Karri Howard, and her husband Jim Howard of Cloudcroft, NM, her brother Cliff Sears of Watertown, NY, her brother Craig Sears of Las Cruces, NM and mother-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 Friday, June 19th at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruidoso, NM followed by a reception to be held in the home of John and Kelly Hall, 102 Charles McClellan, Ruidoso, NM.
