Johnnie Burke

Visitation for Johnnie Burke, 88, of Ruidoso Downs will be Friday, Feb. 22, at the First Baptist Church of Ruidoso Downs from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM with the funeral service at 9:30 AM with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Burke passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, at his home. He was born February 13, 1920 at Gouldbusk, Texas. He moved to Ruidoso Downs in 1959 from El Paso, Texas and was self employed in the trucking business. His hobby was being a racing horse trainer and owner. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ruidoso Downs. He married Nita Huggins on July 21, 1943 at Dumas, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Nita; two daughters, Phyllis McGuire and her husband George of Albuquerque and Donna Blinn and her husband Matt of Albuquerque; 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Dwain Burke. The family has requested memorials to the First Baptist Church of Ruidoso Downs.
