Johnelle Satcher

Johnelle Satcher, 88, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 27, 2018 at her home in Alamogordo, New Mexico surrounded by her family. She was born August 3, 1930 in Vossburg, Mississippi to Will T. Barnett and Bessie Barnett. She married Oscar Satcher on September 14, 1946.

They moved to Alamogordo in 1955 after the birth of their only son, John Satcher and first two daughters, Shirley Harvey and Vacara Smith. They went on to have three more daughters, Carolyn Carney, Rose Matthews and Naomi Satcher. She was a devoted wife and mother and was very well-known and loved in the Alamogordo community. She shared her warmth and love with anyone in need.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Satcher, her son, John Satcher and her sister Bernice Hughes.

She is survived by her five daughters Shirley (Richard) Harvey (Hobbs, NM), Vacara (Steve) Smith (Richmond, TX), Carolyn (Cochise) Carney (Houston, TX) , Rose Matthews (Laurel, MS) , and Naomi Satcher (Dallas, TX); her grandchildren DeAndre Satcher, Zimbalist Satcher, Rich Harvey, Paul Satcher, Kandis Carney, Julian Hill, Yilekal Talley, Meaggan Carney, Morgan Matthews and Taryn Talley; and her great-grandchildren Andre Satcher, Zimbalist Satcher and Nikayla Satcher.

Visitation will be Friday, August 31, from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at Corinth Baptist Church in Alamogordo with the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery in Alamogordo.
