John New

January 14, 1926 — March 24, 2015

John C. New of Ruidoso passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Born in Decatur, Texas on January 14,1926, John had just celebrated his 89th birthday.

Known for his friendly ways and kind spirit, John led a full and busy life. He retired from Army Reserves as a Lt. Colonel. After working for Exxon for 30 years, he worked at Brunells Clothing Store for 14 years, and then co-owned The New Shop with his wife of 22 years, Joann New. John also received the Best of Lincoln County "Best Customer Service" in 2004 and 2005. John enjoyed every moment of his retirement until Joann passed away on March 6, 2014.

John had been a proud and active member of the Ruidoso Masonic Lodge. Always one to enjoy hymns and time with friends, John loved being a part of the J Bar J Country Church congregation.
John is survived by his sons Bill New and wife Ellen, Tom New and his partner Roy, and Chris Lohrengel and wife Catherine, and two grandchildren.

Services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 10am at J Bar J Country Church, with burial services following at Ft. Stanton Cemetery. A memorial will be held at J Bar J Country Church. The family welcomes and appreciates well wishes, but asks that no food or gifts be brought to the home. John loved his friends, both human and furry alike.
