Jesus Verdugo

Prayer service for Jesus Verdugo, 83, of Carrizozo will be Friday, June 8, at 7:00 PM in Santa Rita's Catholic Church where the funeral mass will be on Saturday, June 9, at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Verdugo passed away Tuesday, June 5, in Carrizozo. He was born December 3, 1923 at White Oaks, New Mexico and had lived in Lincoln County all of his life. He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad from 1945 until 1957 and then retired from the New Mexico State Highway Department in 1984. He attended Santa Rita's Catholic Church. He married Nacha Lueras on February 12, 1945 in Carrizozo. He is survived by his wife, Nacha of Carrizozo; seven children, Mary Penrod of Carrizozo, Lorenza Trujillo of Truth or Consequences, Becky Wyatt of Carrizozo, Bertha Griego of Capitan, Patsy Ortiz of Carrizozo, George Verdugo of Carrizozo and James Verdugo of Alamogordo; 19 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and he was preceded in death by a son, David Verdugo.
