Jerry Tom Ligon, a dedicated veteran, devoted husband, and accomplished professional in the garment industry, passed away on July 10, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on May 8, 1944, Jerry's life was marked by service, commitment to family, and a passion for travel and adventure.

Growing up on his family farm in Littlefield, Texas, Jerry learned the values of hard work and perseverance as he helped his father plant and harvest cotton. This early upbringing instilled in him a strong work ethic that he carried throughout his life.

At the age of 22, Jerry joined the Marine Corps, serving honorably for three years. His service was marked by both bravery and sacrifice, as he was wounded twice. This chapter of his life shaped his character and demonstrated his unwavering commitment to his country.

After being discharged, Jerry pursued higher education at Texas Tech University, where he earned a bachelor's degree. Following his graduation, he embarked on a career in the garment industry, working for various companies that allowed him to travel internationally. His professional journey not only enriched his career but also provided him with experiences and connections that he cherished.

In retirement, Jerry found joy in the beautiful surroundings of Ruidoso, New Mexico. He became actively involved in several veterans organizations, where he took pride in assisting veterans and their families. His dedication to helping others was one of his proudest accomplishments.

Beyond his professional and volunteer commitments, Jerry enjoyed spending time in his RV with his wife and beloved dogs, creating memories through their travels. He was also an avid sports fan, often watching college and NFL football, delighting in the thrill of the game.

Jerry Tom Ligon leaves behind a legacy of service, compassion, and love. He will be remembered by those who knew him for his commitment to his country, his dedication to helping others, and his zest for life. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, as well as in the lives of the countless veterans he assisted throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving wife Ana Elena Ligon; daughter, Jennifer Ligon Jones and her significant other Casper West; and grandchildren, Caysi Jones and Gavin Jones. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, George Henry Ligon and Lula Juandel Street; and his sister, Patricia McElhaney. 

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Ft. Stanton State Veterans Cemetery.
