Jeffrey “Jeff” William Jowdry Jr., 66, passed away peacefully at his home in Ruidoso, New Mexico, on September 1, 2026, surrounded by love and cared for by his devoted wife, Tori Greer, and stepdaughter, Cambri Gardner.
Born August 26, 1960, in Bath, Maine, Jeff was the second of four children born to Jeffrey Jowdry Sr. and Sean Lou (Carr) McMahon. His family later grew to include many more siblings and extended relatives. Known as “Butch” during childhood, he was a happy daredevil who made friends wherever his family moved. His life was filled with adventure, travel, and resilience, but his greatest joy was marrying Tori, the love of his life.
Jeff will be remembered for his enormous heart, warm humor, generosity, and hard-won wisdom. He had extraordinary patience and forgave others almost instantly. He had many best friends because, to Jeff, that was exactly what they all were. Material possessions meant little to him, and he would gladly give anything he had to someone in need. Tori fell in love with his seemingly limitless capacity for love.
Jeff had a deep compassion for animals. His three-legged companion, Quincy, was rarely more than a few feet away. Horses, chickens, and rescue animals also became part of his tribe. Jeff loved working with the earth, building with his hands, and serving his community. Even while facing cancer, he continued pursuing the projects and causes that mattered to him.
Jeff’s love for Jesus guided him through life’s challenges. He loved people sincerely and without judgment, and his faith inspired him to lift others as he had once been lifted. A patriot at heart, he loved God, family, and country. Jeff believed that the gifts of love, faith, and kindness were meant to be shared with others. He generously gave his heart and time to the Lighthouse Mission in Clovis and sought to make a positive difference until the very end.
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” —Hebrews 10:24
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Jeffrey Jowdry Sr.
Jeff leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, faith, forgiveness, and compassion. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Tori Greer; his stepdaughter, Cambri Gardner; his mother, Sean Lou McMahon; his siblings, Cathie Williamson, Brian McMahon Jr., Sean Thomas McMahon, Sharron Mason, Donald McMahon, Gretchen Bitner, Michael McMahon, and Megan Jowdry; his nieces, nephews, and their children; and his many friends and chosen family.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso, 341 Sudderth Drive, Ruidoso, New Mexico 88345. Burial will follow.
Following the burial, family and friends are invited to a reception at the home of Greg and Cambri Gardner. Directions will be available at the service.
Flowers may be sent in Jeff’s name to LaGrone Funeral Chapel of Ruidoso at the address above.
