Jean Hood

Hood, Jean Parker McCaskill - Jean Hood, aged 77, Passed away peacefully on Saturday February 9th, 2019 in Alto, NM.

Jean was born in Arkadelphia AR on March 15,1942 to Emma Jean (Parker) McCaskill and Neil Strong McCaskill (who preceded her in death) Jean spent her early life in Arkadelphia with her family and then the family moved to Portales, NM. Jean went to High School in Portales and after, married R.V. Trammell. They had two sons, Christopher (who also preceded Jean in death in 1963) and son Jamie, born in 1964. After her divorce to R.V. Trammell, she moved to Arizona and married Gary Eaklor and had one daughter, Carson, born in 1970. After her divorce to Gary, she met and married Charles Stewart Hood in 1978. Stewart has 3 sons, Douglas, Donald and Dennis. Stewart and Jean moved to Alto, NM in 2005.

Jean was led to her faith and confirmation in the Catholic church with help from Irene Marie Edmondson, (RIP). Both Jean and Stewart were very active in the church and attended St. Eleanor Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. As well as attending service, Jean sang in the choir and Stewart worked the sound system. Jean and Stewart also volunteered many hours weekly over a 3 to 4-year period at the San Patricio Retreat doing grounds keeping and working in the kitchen there.

Jean was considered an asset in forming the new HOA board in 2005 Jean served as Member at Large and as Secretary for Rancho Ruidoso Valley Estates.

Jean was witty, fun to be around, a loyal friend and very generous with her time and efforts to the Church and community. She loved her family, her neighbors and fellow HOA members that she and Stewart got to know over the 14 years of their living in Alto. Some of her favorite activities when at home was gardening, cooking, self-guided study, art and reading non-fiction.

She is survived by her husband, Stewart; her brother Jan McCaskill of Hot Springs, AR; her Son, Jamie Trammell and wife Valerie of Lake Montezuma and their daughter, Jordan; her daughter Carson Apps; Carson's daughters, Jasmine and Katherine of Salida, CO; her step-sons, Douglas Hood and wife Debbie, their children Douglas Jr and Kathleen of Tucson, AZ; Dennis Hood and wife Linda, their children, Chase and Cole of Flower Mound, TX; Don Hood and wife Trish Cescolini and son Garth of Scottsdale, AZ.

Memorial service will be Friday, March 8, at 10:00 A.M. at LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso.
