We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Jay Jeffery Phillips, who left us peacefully on March 15, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on November 11, 1957, in Littlefield, Texas, Jay became member of the Ruidoso community when his family moved here in 1973. He graduated from Ruidoso High School in 1976, and shortly thereafter, he proudly served in the United States Navy from 1976 to 1980. In 1981, Jay married the love of his life, Donna, embarking on a beautiful journey together. Jay's hands built much more than sturdy structures—his craftsmanship as a carpenter shaped dreams for many families throughout his career in construction until he retired in 2001. Jay had a zest for life that shone bright, especially during his visits to the horse races. He leaves behind his loving wife, Donna; and their wonderful children, Jeremy Phillips, Docia Mason and her husband Mike, and Levi/Lindie Phillips. Jay took immense joy in being a grandparent to Cyrhus and Zachary Liguori, who filled his heart with pride and joy. Jay was preceded in death by Clifton Dwain Phillips, Norma Phillips, Joey Phillips, Ronnie Hufstutler.
A memorial dinner for friends and family will be held on Wednesday, April 15th at 6:00 PM at KBob’s Steakhouse. In lieu of flowers the family will be graciously accepting donations to offset funeral expenses.
