It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Jarod Tyler Chico, who left us far too soon on September 10, 2026, in Mescalero, NM. Jarod was born on August 10, 1992, in Albuquerque, NM, and he brought joy and warmth to everyone around him with his creative spirit and caring nature.

Jarod was preceded in death by: mother Jocelyn Chico; brother Murray Chico; paternal grandparents Willeto and Josephine Antonio; maternal grandparents Walter and Velma Chico, and foster parents Charles (Buffy) and Sandra Shanta.

Jarod cherished the simple pleasures of life. He loved to express himself through drawing, and he often found peace on the trails while hiking and biking. Those who knew him will fondly remember his laughter and the way he embraced life's adventures.

Jarod is survived by his loving family, including his father, Gilbert Antonio; his sister, Tristine Duran; his brother, Warren Antonio Spitty; as well as several cherished nieces and nephews: Murray Chico-Pesewonit, Emmalena Antonio Spitty, Cassius Duran, and Carter Duran. His family meant the world to him, and he will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

We invite friends and family to join us in celebrating Jarod's life. A public viewing will be held on September 16, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at LaGrone Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held on September 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Mescalero Reformed Church.
