James Roehrig

J.D. Roehrig, 70, of Capitan passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at his home. He was born July 21, 1946 at Tulsa, OK.

J.D. served two tours of duty in the Army during Vietnam receiving the Purple Heart, Silver Star and Bronze Star. He was currently the Municipal Judge for the Village of Capitan having served there for the past 11 years. He was involved with the American Legion, Ruidoso Sports Car Club and the Capitan High Power Shooting Club. He moved to Lincoln County 25 years ago from St. Petersburg, Florida. He married Elizabeth Byars on November 6, 1998 at Las Vegas, Nevada.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth two brothers, Mark Roehrig of St. Petersburg, FL and Kurt Roehrig of Greensboro, NC; a granddaughter that he was raising as his daughter, Heather Doing.

Graveside service will be Friday, December 2, at 3:30 PM at Ft. Stanton Cemetery.
