Jacquelyn "Jackie" Schlageter, born on February 16, 1951, in Cleveland, Ohio, passed away tragically in an automobile accident on October 29, 2024, in Carrizozo, New Mexico, along with her husband George "Jack".
Jackie's journey of love began when she met her husband, George, at a movie theater while watching “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang”. George had unknowingly sat in her seat, prompting Jackie to take a seat behind him. She struck up a conversation, talking in his ear and humorously spoiling the movie for him. Their connection was immediate, leading them to share dinner after the film. From that moment on, they were inseparable. Jackie and George married on April 2, 1971, and shared over 53 wonderful years together. Jackie served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged after marrying George and starting their family.
Throughout her life, Jackie was very outspoken about her beliefs, especially regarding politics. She also adored her dog, Teddy Bear, whom her son John had adopted for her. Jackie was a beloved homemaker who poured her heart into her family and cherished cooking for them. Jackie will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her spirit will live on through the memories shared by her family and friends.
Jackie is survived by her daughter, Melissa Schlageter; son, Fred Jackson Schlageter, and wife Kim; her sister, Marilyn Hatvany; brother-in-law, Jimmy Schlageter, and wife Karen; brother-in-law, David Schlageter, and wife Lynn; sister-in-law, Rosa Moon, and husband Bob; nephew Chandler Moon, great nephew Dakota, great niece Alexis; nieces Ann Hartline and Cheryl Winters and their families.
