Jack Williams

January 21, 1937 — January 22, 2016

Jack Williams, 79, of Ruidoso, New Mexico was called to heaven on Friday, January 22, 2016, in Ruidoso with his loving wife Nancy by his side.

He was born January 21, 1937 at Roaring Springs, Texas to Arla Marie and Milton Judd Williams. He graduated from Petersburg High School in 1954 where he was named Best All-Around Athlete. He attended Howard County Junior College in Big Spring, Texas where he played baseball and basketball. He married Nancy Lue Austin on November 9, 1957 at Petersburg and recently celebrated their 58th anniversary. Jack retired from Texaco as a Lease Operator in Sundown, Texas in 1999. They moved to Ruidoso in 2002 from Lubbock and attended the J Bar J Country Church where they made many close friends.

He was a great and humble man who was loved and admired by everyone who knew or worked with him. He had to climb many mountains in life; the last one was just too high. His generosity, sense of humor and quiet wisdom will be missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Ruidoso; two sons, Tim Williams of May, Texas and Mick Williams of Austin, Texas; his mother, Arla Williams of Springdale, Arkansas; brother, L.D. Williams and his wife Virginia of Wimberley, Texas; two sisters, Darla Williams of Lubbock, Texas and Sherry Blackwell and her husband, Cleo of Springdale, Arkansas; and two grandchildren, Madison Williams of Lubbock, Texas and Satchel Williams of San Angelo, Texas. He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Williams and a daughter, Misti Williams; his father, M.J. Williams and a brother, Monte Williams.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 27, at 11:00 A.M. at the J Bar J Country Church in Ruidoso. Graveside services will be Thursday, January 28, at 1:00 P.M. in the City of Levelland Cemetery in Levelland, Texas with his niece Melissa Petty of Snyder, Texas officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to consider donations to the Misti Dawn and Tony Lynn Williams Memorial Scholarship at South Plains College in Levelland, Texas.
