Isidro Davalos

Isidro Little Davalos, 90, died Monday, December 26, 2017, at his new home in Bend, Oregon. He was born July 8, 1927, and raised in Bent, New Mexico, the son of Augustin and Magdalena Davalos. In 1945 he enlisted in the Army and served in Korea. He married in 1951 and had three children whom he helped raise, with patience, discipline and humility. He moved his family to Milwaukie, Oregon, in 1965, where they lived for 52 years.

Growing up on a ranch Isidro, learned to be a jack of all trades, nothing ever broke that he couldn't fix. His understanding of the mechanics of machinery was at the core of his careers operating heavy equipment in the Sacramento Mountains of southern New Mexico, running the engines on the dredge Oregon for the Port of Portland and enjoying his retirement as a gentleman farmer at his Christmas tree farm in Oregon.
He was blessed with a large and loving extended family. The close relationships he maintained with a multitude of siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins were one of the great joys in his life. These were second only to the love of his wife, children, grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

He leaves the wife he was devoted to for 66 years, Elfida "Chefie" Davalos; his daughter, Martha Davalos of Bend, Oregon; his son, Richard (Michelle) Davalos of Ashland, Wisconsin; sisters Maria (Dr. Joe) DePetris of Dallas, Texas, and Helen Davalos of Portland, Oregon; his beloved grandchildren Andrew (Jamie) Ferchland, Renee (Ian) Shelton, Ryan Davalos , Zachary Davalos; and three great-granddaughters.
He was predeceased by his son Charles, parents, sisters Margaret Paz, Anita Acuna and Rosalie Nelson; and brothers Mike Davalos, Dave Davalos, and Gilbert Davalos.

The rosary will be prayed at 6:00 P.M. on Friday, January 5, at St. Joseph Apache Mission church in Mescalero, New Mexico, the funeral mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 6, also at St. Joseph Apache Mission with interment to follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Mission Cemetery in Bent, New Mexico.
