isabel Garcia Cadena, 84, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at her home in Ruidoso Downs, NM.
Isabel is survived by her daughters, Cyndi Cadena of Las Cruces, Debbie Cadena of Ruidoso Downs, Marian & Rob Taylor of Ruidoso Downs, and a son Javier "JV" & JoRae Cadena of Ruidoso Downs. She is also blessed to be survived by 13 grandchildren and 20 (soon to be 21) great grandchildren.
Isabel was born on July 8, 1941, in Shafter Texas to Genaro and Margarita Garcia, she was the eldest of 6 children, and is survived by three sisters, Raye Sanchez of Henderson NV, Marie Danchuk, of Newport Coast California, Tillie & Oscar Belis of Carlsbad NM.
Isabel is also survived by In-laws- Debbie (Cano) Garcia, Berena Vasquez, Tommy Cadena, and Louis Martinez
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Jesse Cadena Sr. (d-2026) and Son Jesse Cadena Jr (d-2017), her parents, and her brothers Florentino and Joe Garcia.
Isabel was the anchor of her family, A loving grandmother, whose grandchildren knew her as "Nana, "Great Nana" "Tiny Nana" and "Good Grandma". Always supporting her husband Jesse, at all of their endeavors either at the grocery store or at the track, but she was also her own person! She worked at various jobs throughout her life to support her family, whether it be at Presto Manufacturing, or working at Gibsons here in Ruidoso, then you could find her at Wal-Mart for a time, she finally finished her working career, working as security at Ruidoso Downs Racetrack. Isabel, loved dancing and listening to music and up to the very end was always humming a song. She was a very caring person, she often was a surrogate parent for her kid's friends, always accepting and welcoming. She was very active, walking and taking in the mountain scenery of the area she loved dearly. She loved to sew and often made quilts for the children of friends and family. She and Jesse were always providing food for festivities, holidays, lending a helping hand to people who needed it. She will be greatly missed by family, friends and the community.
A devout Catholic Christian, Isabel's services will by Saturday May 23 at St. Eleanor Catholic Church in Ruidoso NM. To honor Isabel, please wear pink or red.
