Gordon Harast

August 3, 1928 — June 6, 2018

Donald G. Harast left us the evening of Wednesday June 6, 2018 in Mescalero, New Mexico.

Born in Cicero, Illinois, he attended school there and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After over 30 years of work, he retired from Argonne National Laboratory.
During his time with Argonne National Laboratory he developed a system to cut down on the time consuming and expensive machining of the separator experiments. His system was adopted and the modification was made by Donald. He was awarded a patent for another of his systems. The word excellent often came up in the descriptions of his performances at his job.

Donald leaves behind his wife, Jordan Cameron of Ruidoso. His brother John Harast and sister-in-law Niki of Ruidoso. His son, Christopher Harast and daughter Michelene Latoria both of the Chicago area. His Grandson, Cory Harast of Arizona. Also his step children, Frank Beck and Debbie Beck of Austin, Texas and Karen Beck and Judy Shepherd of Redondo Beach, California. His step grandsons Victor Beck and Hunter Beck both of Dallas, Texas.

The family would especially like the thank the management and staff at the Mescalero Care Center who took such loving and professional care of him during his time there.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Mount at 121 Mescalero Trail, Ruidoso at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday June 30th, 2018. A reception at the church will follow.
