Gilbert H. Buenrsotro, Jr.

Gilbert H. Buenrostro, Jr, was born in San Antonio, Texas, on September 28, 1947, and passed in his sleep at our home in Lubbock, Texas, February 7, 2025. His father, Gilbert, Sr, was in World War II and served as a Radio Operator on flight missions. He and his mother, Mary Alice Donavan married in 1942.

Gilbert Jr. married Cindy K. Hatfield in March 1977 in Pampa, Texas and they moved to Lubbock, Texas where he worked from his start date, July 1972, as an Examiner with the Federal Home Loan Bank Board later named The Office of Thrift Supervision in the 1980's until he retired in 2008. Our son, Chris, was born on October 21, 1981, raised him in Lubbock, and then married his wife, Nina, in Lexington, MA, in 2020 (both received master’s degrees and are MIT graduates), and had their son, Adan, on October 5, 2023.

Gilbert's curious, brilliant, and very inquisitive mind never dulled nor diminished throughout his last debilitating couple of years of his life.

Gilbert's remaining family and many friends are invited to his Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at St. Eleanor Catholic Church, 140 Junction Road in Ruidoso, New Mexico on November 3, 2025. The Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 and the mass will begin at 11 am.
