George Booher

Olan Booher was born in Ruidoso, New Mexico, to Odis and Lorene Booher, who preceded him in death. He was one of six children and is survived by his sister, Faye Burch of Ignacio, Colorado, and Cousin Martha Oldaker of Roswell, New Mexico.

Olan married Glenda Booher (of Capitan) in January of 1966 in Plainview, Texas. Together, they raised four children. Olan was the proud father of Glenda Faye Leonard (Art), Dale Booher, Daniel Booher (Karen), and Oscar Booher. Olan was blessed with eight grandchildren: Creighton Grant; Kyle Grant (Samantha); Laura Sledge (Tyler); Levi Booher; Katie Booher; Oren Booher (Baylee); and Sarah Booher (McCray). Through his grandchildren, he became the proud great-grandfather of thirteen great-grandchildren.

Olan enjoyed working hard, and was always dreaming up his next project, tape measure in his pocket and his blueprints never far from reach. He had a special ability to construct anything he set his mind to, fueled by his ingenuity, persistence, and pride in his work. He had a remarkable gift when it came to animals, given time, trust, and food he could have any wild bird or deer eventually eating from his hand. He loved to sit and watch them, but it seemed like second nature that they came back regularly for his affection.

He rarely met a stranger and loved to feed and entertain a crowd. He had a way of making people feel welcome, and many of our memories have classic country playing in the background. His chair at the end of the bar, was where he was most comfortable, greeting friends and newcomers alike as they entered the Cree. Always ready with a handshake or hug, and a smile. Olan will be remembered for his jokes, lighthearted antics, and the way he made people feel seen and welcome.

Above all Olan loved his family. Quietly but deeply. He stood as a solid foundation for his family and loved and encouraged us all. Olan's presence, humor, and grit will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered.
