Frederick Knight

Frederick Knight, 87, long time resident of Ruidoso passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016 in Alamogordo.

Born in Richmond, VA he spent most of his childhood, teen age, and young adult life in New England, mainly in the Boston area. Fred attended Princeton University and graduated in 1950 with a degree in Psychology Cum Laude. He began his working career in sales with Sun Oil Company in the Boston area, in 1960 he transferred to Philadelphia where he spent 5 years in Personnel Research and Training. He joined Xerox in 1965 and moved to Rochester, NY and spent the next 17 years in Training and Management Development for Xerox Western Region. In 1982 he left Xerox, moved to Ruidoso and formed his own company, Knight Management Training, which he headed until 1994. Tired of traveling, he sought a job as an instructor at the relatively new Eastern New Mexico University Community College in Ruidoso and taught part time for the next 20 years specializing in Interpersonal Communication and Public Speaking. He finally retired in 2014.

Fred was married twice, he and his first wife divorced after a 10 year marriage. They had 3 girls all of whom survive him and they bore 3 grandchildren. Fred and his second wife, Carol, had been married just short 49 years when Carol passed away in August, 2011. They had 3 children, a son who passed away in 2004 and a daughter who died at 4 months of age and a daughter Melissa Craft who survived him and her husband Randy.
