Fred Montoya

Mr. Montoya passed away Tuesday, Aug. 1, in Ruidoso. He was born October 8, 1927 at Roswell and had lived in Lincoln County all of his life. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict receiving the Purple Heart. He worked in construction as a stone mason. He married Petra Gonzalez on October 21, 1950 at Ruidoso. He is survived by his wife, Petra of Ruidoso Downs; 3 sons, Freddy Montoya and Ray Montoya both of Ruidoso and Martine Montoya of Las Cruces; a daughter, Teresa Chavez of San Patricio; two brothers, Alfred Montoya of Alamogordo and Louis Montoya of Ruidoso; 20 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Robert G. Montoya and Jessie G. Montoya.
